The legendary Happy Valley Drunks League is named after the street on which Northwest Lanes is located (except for the Drunks part) The league was formed in the late 1970's by Rick Banas and Dave "Carp" Kiley. In those days it consisted mostly of employees of the Boehlke Veneer Company. In the early 1980's a ragtag group of high school teachers brought their team named Rip's Raiders (founded in 1974 at Sanker Lanes in Mt. Healthy) to Northwest, and the legend continues to this day.
